Up

Due South   1991 Thoroughbred Gelding

Gus joined the Owl Hollow Event Team in 2000.  Originally purchased as an upper level, international event prospect, injuries sustained in a barn fire as a yearling limited his ability to compete at the Preliminary level and above.  As a result, he settled into a career as a lower level adult amateur horse.

Successfully competing in events throughout Areas II, III, IV, and VIII, Gus has earned many year end awards in Area II at the Novice and Training level.  In 2001, he won the Area II Adult Amateur Novice Championships and, in 2005, he was a member of the Novice winning team at the Chronicle of the Horse Adult Team Challenge.  A versatile fellow, he has also found success in the Adult Amateur division at hunter shows and at First and Second level at dressage shows.

Woodbine   1990 Paint/Thoroughbred Gelding   (Knowadamean ▪ Fifth Avenue)

Purchased sight-unseen from an ad on the internet, Woody became a permanent fixture at Owl Hollow Farm in 1999.  With talent to spare, a puppy dog personality, and a willingness to please, he is the ultimate lower level adult amateur horse and, in 2003, he was named the USEA Area II Adult Amateur Horse of the year.

Woody has competed successfully in events throughout Areas II, III, IV and VIII.  He has won numerous year end awards in Area II at the Novice level as well as winning the 2001 American Paint Horse Association  PAC Combined Training High Point Award.  He has been a member of two winning Novice teams at the Chronicle of the Horse Adult Team Challenge, once helping his team to victory by finishing on his dressage score of 21.5, the lowest of the entire event.

Arlington Park   2001 Paint/Thoroughbred Gelding   (Phineas Hat Trick ▪ My Sweet Spot)

Woody's nephew, Tex is the newest member of the Owl Hollow Farm Event Team.  Originally from Missouri by way of Kansas, he came to the farm in 2003.  Due to his youthful nature, he has not yet embarked on his Eventing career, but plans are in the works for him to make his debut in the not so distant future.  A younger version of his uncle, there are high hopes that he will find success as a lower level adult amateur eventer.

Keeneland   1995 Thoroughbred/Clydesdale Mare   (Heavy Courting ▪ Blythwood Nancy)

Purchased in 1999 as a sport horse broodmare prospect, Dolly spent two years eventing at the Beginner Novice and Novice levels before retiring to be a full time mom.  During her brief show career, she successfully competed at events throughout Areas II, III, and VIII; winning several and finishing in the ribbons at all of them.  In 2000, she captured the American Warmblood Society (AWS) National Eventing Silver Medal Year End Award and finished fifth on the United States Combined Training Association (now United States Eventing Associaiton) National Novice Horse Year End Leaderboard.  In 2001, she won the AWS Area II Eventing Bronze Medal Year End Award and finished fifth in the AWS National Eventing Year End standings.

As a broodmare, Dolly has proven to be a wonderful mom.  When crossed with a Thoroughbred, she produces big, bold, and athletic babies with lovely movement and outstanding jumping talent.  Her 2004 and 2005 fillies by Never Bend Better (TB) are currently for sale.  Visit the Horses For Sale page for more information concerning these two lovely event prospects.

Icando   1984 Thoroughbred Gelding

The oldest member of the Event Team, Oliver came to Owl Hollow Farm in 1996.  Then an upper level mount for Marcia Carabell, it was time for him to slow down a bit.  An ambitious over-achiever, it took him several months to settle into his new role as an amateur rider schoolmaster, but he eventually got the hang of it.

Competing successfully in Areas II, III, and VIII, Oliver earned several year-end awards at the Local, Area, and National levels.  He was also a member of two winning teams at the Chronicle of the Horse Adult Team Challenge, once at Novice and once at Training.  A talented dressage horse as well, he recorded numerous wins at USDF recognized shows, twice qualifying for the BLM Championships.  Now retired from active competition, he spends his days giving an occasional lesson to riders wanting to refine their dressage skills and keeping the rest of the horses at the farm in line.
